Raised Toilet Seats and Toilet Risers

These devices raise the height of the toilet seat to assist residents with sitting onto and standing up from the toilet. Most of these devices are placed on top of the toilet in place of or in addition to the toilet seat. However, in the case of toilet risers some devices are mounted under the toilet, raising the whole toilet. Common features to look for in raised toilet seats include seats with arms, legs, wide widths to accommodate larger residents, and locking or clamping mechanisms to secure the seat to the toilet bowl. The addition of arms offers additional assistance to residents by providing leverage and guidance when sitting and standing. The use of legs provides a wider base of support, decreasing the possibility of seat movement while it is in use.
